Classroom: Monitos A & B
Blog Theme: Animal KingdomWeekly Theme: Wild & Domestic Animals
Week: From 04/29/2019 to 05/03/2019

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,

We hope you all have a wonderful week. We are starting a new month and with that a new theme. During the next 4 weeks, children will be learning about the Animal Kingdom. This topic will teach children to respect and love animals as part of their environment and provide knowledge of animals and animal care. Children will learn specifically about wild animals, domestic animals, insects and species in extinction.

This week, we will learn about wild and domestic animals. We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme, so children can continue acquiring knowledge through fun experiences.  Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills. Some activities children will enjoy are as follows:

·         Large Group Setting

o    Observe visual flashcards of domestic animals and relate them with the sound they make.

o    Answer questions such as what is it?

·         Small Group Setting

o    Provide a brief description of farm animals.

o    Give farm animals a bath.

·         Small Group Setting

o    Create animal environments such as farm and jungles with recycled material.

o    Create animal hats.

·         Small Group Setting

o    Identify green and yellow animals.

·         Small Group Setting

o    Participate in parade with farm animals.

Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Year-Round Activities

Student of the Week & Travelling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these wonderful activities as these 2 are the children favorites! Both activities allow every child to make and share memories with their classmates.

For the student of the week activity, every week a child is given a set week that he/she are the student of the week. On Monday of their week the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports/hobbies, animals or anything they are interested in. Also, on their week parents and the student of the week may pick a day to present the poster and the book to the class. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and child will enjoy bonding time and making new memories and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week parents and the child should bring to school a collage of pictures and a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parent should make sure to place the collage inside the travelling pet bag.

Sign up to both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Song of the Week

Song #1- Animales de la Granja
Mi abuelita tiene una granja bella
Con animalitos y flores muy bellas,
Ahora este jueguito de imitar sonidos
Tú lo haces primero y luego tu amiguito
(Repetir 2x)
El perrito ladra (sonido)
El gato maulla (sonido)
El gallito canta (sonido)
La vaca estornuda (sonido)
El conejo salta
El caballo trota
Y los pajaritos la canción entonan (Repetir 2x)

Song #2 - Animales de la Selva
Los animales que hay en la selva,
Tú los vas repetir,
Algunos gordos, otros muy altos
Igual nos vamos a divertir.
El elefante que está muy grande
Y la jirafa que alta es
Y el monito que salta y salta
El cocodrilo… me va a morder
Los animales…
Es un león que esta enojón
Es la serpiente que es muy decente
Y la tortuga come lechuga
Y el ratón (donde está el ratón?)
Ya se escondió
Los animales…

Después de la lluvia
Salió el caracol
Después de la lluvia
A tomar el sol.

En el río está tranquilo
Ele ele elefante
En la trompa lleva un guante.
Salta, salta, saltamontes
Salta mucho y no se rompe.

Es gorda y es buena
Nada por los mares
Como una sirena.
