My Wonderful Planet Earth

Classroom: Monitos

Blog Theme: Green Earth

Weekly Theme: My Wonderful Planet Earth

Week: From 01/27/2020 to 01/31/2020

What we are learning?
Dear Parents,
We hope you all have a wonderful week. For the next 5 weeks, we will learn the topic “Green Earth.” The earth is the place where we live, and it is our responsibility to care and protect it. At present, the environmental pollution and the neglect in the conservation of endangered species are causing air pollution, soil and water contamination and the extinction of species. Our goal is to promote love and care for nature in children within their familiar environments such as their home and school.
This week children will learn everything about our wonderful planet earth.  It is important for the children to explore different elements, landforms and bodies of water on earth such as minerals, lakes, rivers, sea, volcanos, rocks, mountains, etc. through play, observation, stories and hands-on experiences.
We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue acquiring knowledge through fun experiences. Each one of them will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.

·         Large Group Setting

o    Discover the sounds coming from nature such as the rain, wind, water, birds, etc.

o    Create a hat related to this topic.

·         Small-Group Setting

o    Observe shells of different sizes.

o    Paint the shells using different colors.

o    Create the planet using paper plates.

·         Small-Group Setting

·         Small-Group Setting

o    Create sensory bottles with different natural elements.

o    Create the planet earth using play dough.

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Traveling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's favorites! These activities allow every child to create and share memories with their classmates. Student of the week will run from August through January and Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.

As you know, every week, a child is given a set week that he/she is the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and other interests. Parents will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share it with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and children will enjoy bonding time and making new memories, and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week, parents and the child should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper containing a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parents should make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.

Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Song of the Week

Buenos días ya salió el sol

Miro hacia el cielo, las nubes de algodón

Buenas noches, la luna salió

Muchas estrellitas luceros de amor

Estrellas, planetas

Luna y sol

Cuida nuestra tierra y llénala de amor

Rhymes

#1Yo vivo en un mundo

No hay como él

Lleno de flores y plantas también

Encuentro rocas, arena y mar

Tierra y ríos para disfrutar

Yo vivo en un mundo

Que debemos cuidar

Su nombre es Tierra

¡Qué hermoso lugar!

Nací para cuidar

esto que veo

para cuidar la lluvia,

para cuidar el viento,

para cuidar el ave,

al pez y a lo pequeño

nací para cuidar

Todo el Universo

Y voy a crear

Hacer muchos experimentos

Jugar y a explorar
