Saving the Planet

Classroom: Monitos

Blog Theme: Green Earth

Weekly Theme: Saving the Planet

Week: February 17th, 2020 to February 21st, 2020

What are we learning?
Dear Parents,
We hope you all have a wonderful week. We will continue with the topic “Green Earth.” This week they will be discovering and exploring which simple things they can do to help saving planet Earth, from conserving water and energy to recycling and reusing. They will learn how to care for animals, beaches, forests, etc.
We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue acquiring knowledge through fun experiences.  Each one of them will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills. Some activities children will enjoy are as follows:

·         Large Group Setting

o    Observe visual flashcards of planet Earth.

o    Learn how to care about the place we live through images.

o    Create a collage of things they can do to care for nature

·         Small-Group Setting

o    Find out what we can do with recycled bottles.

o    Create small mockups.

·         Small-Group Setting

o    Jump inside circles mimicking the shape of planet Earth.

o    Do puzzles.

·         Small-Group Setting

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Traveling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's favorites! These activities allow every child to create and share memories with their classmates. Student of the week and Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.

As you know, every week, a child is given a set week that he/she is the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and other interests. Parents will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share it with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and children will enjoy bonding time and making new memories, and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week, parents and the child should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper containing a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parents should make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.

Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Song of the Week

Buenos días ya salió el sol
Miro hacia el cielo, las nubes de algodón
Buenas noches, la luna salió
Muchas estrellitas luceros de amor.
Estrellas, planetas
Luna y sol
Cuida nuestra tierra y llénala de amor

Rhymes

#1
Yo vivo en un mundo
No hay como él
Lleno de flores y plantas también.
Encuentro rocas, arena y mar
Tierra y ríos para disfrutar.

Yo vivo en un mundo
Que debemos cuidar
Su nombre es Tierra
¡Qué hermoso lugar!

#2
Nací para cuidar
esto que veo
para cuidar la lluvia,
para cuidar el viento,
para cuidar el ave,
al pez y a lo pequeño
nací para cuidar
Todo el Universo

#3
Soy un científico
Y voy a crear
Hacer muchos experimentos
Jugar y a explorar

Riddles

#1
Doy calorcito
Soy muy redondo
Salgo prontito
Y tarde me escondo
El sol
